     There are many technical means which aim at developing the field of information and communication which is considered the most important basis of information economy and social development at present .As such the Computer Center at the University of Technology which is one of the main centers in the country , exerted intensive efforts to coupe with the latest developments in the field of information and communication and worked with the possible means to meet the university needs of :-
1-Creating Scientific Environment based on information and communication technology couppled with the endeavor to spread it over the university departments, research centers and administration offices.

2-Establishing a highly qualified level of scientific and technical cadre for :
Software Industry such as designing , performing and maintaining systems besides running training courses to meet the university needs of computing capability as well as automating administrative works.
Maintenance and repair of all computer types and their accessories.
Connecting net works showing their important, types, construction and methods of connection and the advantages of participation in the development of current information and communication technology.
Adopting modern and advanced training programs for scientific and teaching personnel.

3-Constructing information base to be the center for information after satisfying the basic needs of computers and connecting them with the university local information network besides running training courses to replace the traditional paper work methods. This implies a high performance speed and batter time investment and a reduction in the cost of different works besides providing better services to the university departments and their sections. These services will gradually develop both quantitatively and qualitatively as gained experience is accumulated.
 

4-Making use of scientific and cultural cooperation programs contracted with different countries of the world to develop the centers personnel skills in the field of information and communication technology.
5-Expanding the use of the internet web as the university has recently been supplied with advanced and modern computers which will secure a fast link with the World Wide Web.
6-Presenting typing services for research work, academic theses, scientific and cultural journals as well as designing and performing advertisement boards and various types of covering.

       The University of Technology did what it could to reconstruct and develop its establishments besides adding new departments and sections. It has reformed the administration structure of the Computer Center due to its importance. The center is regarded as the backbone of this university for the vital role it plays in carrying out tasks and services that meet the needs of the university and the governmental offices as well as designing and implementing programs, running training courses and, offering consultations and studies for different directions. The center intends to construct an advanced center for the internet and e-mail which is supposed to be the best in the country. The center includes a unit for typing university theses, journals and periodicals for both postgraduate and undergraduate students as well as the teaching staff research works.
